Born in Ivory Coast and raised in the United States, Lee studied computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He worked as a software engineer at Google before creating Litecoin as a faster, more lightweight alternative to Bitcoin. Later, he joined Coinbase as Director of Engineering, helping to build one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges. Today, Lee continues to be an influential figure in the cryptocurrency space and serves as Managing Director of the Litecoin Foundation, which supports the ongoing development and adoption of Litecoin.

What has Litecoin to offer
Litecoin has a couple of improvements over Bitcoin. Where LTC is more featured towards being a transactional cryptocurrency it has a four times faster blocktime than Bitcoin. This means that it produces block, and transactions, four times faster, making it a good canditate for micro-transactions. Total coins in circulation are also more than on Bitcoin and it uses the scrypt alhorithm for mining. These improvements work to make Litecoin a more suitable alternative for day to day transactions and payments in general.
